Description

Rohini DJ 2 Moonlight is a Grand Cru made in Rohini Tea Estate, which is nestled in Kurseong subdivision, West Bengal. Spring flushes like this one are renowned for the remarkable complexity of their fragrances, as well as for their unrivalled freshness.

This complex first flush Darjeeling develops floral, zesty and fruity notes, supported by a powdery texture that gives the notes a long finish.

Rohini’s garden history:

Spanning 146 hectares of tea bushes, this garden was once considered one of the largest in Darjeeling before the Indochina War. However, the establishment of a military camp known as “Khaprail” led to nearly 80% of the tea plants being uprooted. The garden was closed in 1962, only to be revived thirty years later with the planting of approximately a hundred tea bushes. Since then, the garden has continued to flourish, producing some of the region’s finest teas.

Suggestion of preparation

To prepare hot tea:

With our Tea Sommelier Set or with a teapot: steep 0.28 oz (8g) of tea in 2 cups of filtered water for 5 minutes at 200°F (95°C).

To prepare iced tea:

Steep 0.28 oz (8g) of tea in 2 cups of room temperature water for 45 minutes. When the infusion is finished, place the liquor in the refrigerator to cool.

Grands Crus: savour the exceptional

Rare and ephemeral, teas identified as Grands Crus by Palais des Thés are the result of alchemy between a tea plant variety, its terroir and the talent of an artisan grower. Meticulously plucked, processed and sourced in the most respected tea gardens, our Grands Crus unveil unique flavours that reflect the refinement of their origins.
